Strategic Direction #1: Improving teaching and personalized learning for the development of each learner.

 How will   we   measure?  The percentage of all students enrolled in   Grade 11 who meet the ACT benchmark will   increase by 2-6 percentage points.
 What are   we doing?
  • Align our learning and curriculum to state standards and expectations.

  • Utilize research-based best practices 

    • AVID Research Based Instructional Program

    • Professional Learning Communities   for teachers

    • Build on note-taking, processing, and dialogue skills to deepen student understanding and develop independent learners. 

  • Progress monitoring of  students throughout the year and adjust supports accordingly.

 What will   you notice?
  • Students will be able to work collaboratively and communicate their thinking and perspectives using academic language.  

  • Students will enter 12th grade with ACT scores indicating they are college ready.

 

Strategic Direction #2: Fostering a safe, welcoming, and inclusive environment

 How will   we   measure?
  • Increase the number of students who agree with the statement “Students from different backgrounds (gender, race, socio-economic status, etc.) get along well together in my school” by 4%.
  • Increase the federal percentage attendance rate for students to 95% in 2023.

  • Increase the percentage of students on-track to graduate by 2%.

 What are   we doing?
  • On-going training to support teachers in their implementation of AVID best practices in Writing, Inquiry, Collaboration, Organization, Reading (WICOR).

  • Teachers provide opportunities with built-in time (WIN) to offer academic support, student interest exploration, and connect with teachers and classmates to build upon our school community.

 What will   you notice?
  • Diverse student groups connect with each other in and out of the classrooms.  

  • Our student body is represented throughout our school and in our communication.
