School to close 2 hours early on Friday, Jan. 17

Eastern Carver County Schools will release students 2 hours early tomorrow, Friday, January 17, because of expected heavy snowfall. Buses will transport students home two hours earlier than usual on Friday, January 17. Afternoon Club Care will be cancelled. Afternoon preschool and E.C.F.E. programs will be cancelled. Nominations now open for 2020 Teacher of the Year Award

Students, parents, teachers, and principals are encouraged to nominate exceptional teachers within the Eastern Carver County School district for the District 112 Foundation’s 2020 Teacher of the Year. The award honors and recognizes outstanding teachers in the district who advance excellence and innovation in education. Teacher of the Year nominees must be current licensed teachers within the school district during the 2019-2020 school year. Ideal candidates for the Teacher of the Year award will have daily contact with students and will encourage them to build confidence, to learn, and to achieve. The ideal candidate will also demonstrate a thorough knowledge of their subject matter and will share it effectively with students, and will make positive contributions within the school community while actively supporting the mission and vision of Eastern Carver County Schools. New grant program helps school gardens grow

Eastern Carver County Schools is excited to launch a new School Garden Grant Program.  Funds for these grants are being generously provided by a community donor.  These grants will expand school gardens in the district and enhance outdoor learning experiences for students. Seven school gardens currently serve as a source of learning for students throughout the district. Teachers from a variety of studies, including science, social studies, and math/engineering often creatively incorporate their school garden into standards-based lesson plans to learn about topics such as life-cycle, germination, the history of the land, and more. Not only do students enjoy the school gardens and have fun taking care of them, but they also walk away with a strong sense of community and environmental stewardship. Parent Teacher Conferences for Semester 2

The following is is a list of remaining conferences for this school year: Thursday, February 27:  3:30 pm –6:30 pm Thursday, March 12:  3:30 pm – 7:00 pm Conferences are conducted arena style in the Commons.  You may park on the west side of the building and enter through the activities door.  Please bring your student with you to conferences, as they are an integral part of the process. Prior to arriving for conferences, you should look-up/print your student’s progress report from Parent Portal.  This report will show your student’s current grades and teacher’s names.  Please note that paper copies of student’s grades and/or schedules will not be distributed at conferences. You can locate the progress report in Parent Portal under Reports.  If you have not already activated your Parent Portal account, this would be a great time to sign up.  Staff will be available at the welcome table.
