Back-to-School Days

School Picture IDs, Parking Permits, Planners and Schedule Distribution

*Note:  Counselors are not available on these dates.  See below under student schedule information.  We cannot release schedules or sell parking permits prior to these dates if you are unable to attend back-to-school days.

All back-to-school activities take place in the purple house.  Enter through door 23 on the activities side of the building.

Students in grades 9-11 are required to have pictures taken for Student IDs before they can pick up their schedule.  There is no charge for a picture ID taken by Lifetouch.  Optional packages are available to purchase.  Lifetouch picture packets are available when pictures are taken or you can order your package up to two weeks in advance here. (if link does not work, try copying and pasting into your browser)

If you are unable to make it to one of the days above:

  • Make-up picture day on September 4
  • Picture retake day is October 4

Seniors who attended Chaska High School last year do not need to have their picture taken for a school ID or to pick up their schedule.  Their junior picture will be used for their ID.  Seniors who are new to Chaska High School need to have their picture taken for a school ID.

Students may purchase parking permits in the purple office beginning August 19.  In order to purchase a permit you must have all books, uniforms and instruments returned and/or all fines paid, complete the permit application with signatures of both the student and parent/guardian and present a valid driver’s license in person.  Applications can be found on our website under Students then Parking Information or in the purple office beginning August 19.  Parking permits are $220.00 for the year and must be paid in full (no payment plans).

Nurse Will be Available on Tuesday of Back to School Days

The building nurse will be available Tuesday, August 20 from 8:00am-4:00pm to drop off medications and review immunizations.  Click here for link to the Student Health Information form in English and Spanish.  Click here for the link to the form in English and Somali.  All students are asked to complete and return the health form at back to school days.

New Student Chromebook Distribution

New students in grades 9-12 may pick up their chromebook in the media center during the following times:

  • Monday, August 19 from 8:00am-6:00pm
  • Tuesday, August 20 from 8:00am-4:00pm

Student Schedules/Schedule Corrections

Printed copies of student schedules will be distributed on Monday, August 19 & Tuesday, August 20.  Students in grades 9-11 must have their picture taken for their school ID prior to picking up their schedule.  Schedules will also be available in portal beginning the evening of August 20 under your student’s name, then reports.  Students must pick up their own schedule and may not pick up schedules for other students.

Students with “EMPTY” period(s) due to scheduling conflicts will be notified of times counselors are available to assist with their schedule.  It is our priority to work with these students and ensure that they have a complete schedule in place.

Schedule corrections are allowed for limited reasons and are based on class availability.  Students may walk in to see their counselor during the following times:

Wednesday, August 21:

12th & 11th Grade (Blue House):  8:00am-11:00am

10th & 9th Grade (Green House):  12:00-3:00pm

Thursday, August 22:

All Grades (House Offices):  12:00-3:00pm

Friday, August 23:

All Grades (House Offices):  8:00-11:00am

There will also be an option this year to submit schedule change requests via an online google form.  Watch for additional communication including the link as we get closer to back-to-school days.

9th Graders Only – Link Crew Freshman Orientation

The Link Crew freshman orientation and transition program is designed to both welcome and support freshmen by assigning them a junior or senior Link Leader as a mentor during their first year.  Students will learn about high school, tour the building and find out what it means to be a Hawk!

Wednesday, August 28 from 8 AM – 12 PM, CHASKA MAIN GYM

Busing is not be provided.  Please make appropriate arrangements.  There is no make-up date for this event if your student is unable to attend.

CHS Student Supply List – Student Planners

CHS does not have a student supply list.  Students should come prepared with writing utensils and notebooks.  Classes that require specific supplies will communicate that during class the first few weeks of school.  Student Planners will be available to purchase for $10.00.  Students in grades 9 and 10 are expected to have a planner.

Request to EXCLUDE Student Directory Information

If you wish to exclude your student’s directory information from any published lists available to the public, the Exclusion Request form (available in the purple office) must be completed (renewed) each school year.  Directory information is considered public information and includes, but is not limited to, the yearbook, graduation programs, honor roll or other recognition lists, sports programs, and drama playbills.

Students in Grades 10-12 Must Request Busing if Needed

Students in grades 10-12 who need busing, must complete the High School Transportation Registration Form if they intend to ride the school bus.   9th graders who have any schedule other than traveling to and from home and school, (i.e., shared custody) also need to complete the form. You do NOT need to complete this form if your 9th grader will be picked up and dropped off at your home address each day. This form needs to be filled out annually.

Any changes to busing must be made by August 9.  Final busing information will be posted on Campus Portal by August 26.  If you have already completed and sent this form to the Transportation Dept., you do not need to do it again.  Simply verify the information on Campus Portal to make sure that it is correct.  Contact the Transportation Department at Transportation@district112.org, or 952-556-6160 with questions.

School Lunch Information

Nutrition Services is renewing our commitment to serve students the best meals by adopting a more whole foods, scratch cooking approach.  We are excited to be partnering with local, sustainable producers such as Ferndale Market, The Good Acre, and Minnesota Harvest Apple Orchard to accomplish our goal of supporting local business and agriculture. Watch for new menu items each month that highlight new recipes and our local partnerships.  Meal prices will remain the same for the upcoming school year.  Price for HS lunch – $2.95.  As a reminder, families that qualify for free or reduced meals are required to apply each year.  Applications can be filled out and returned to any District 112 school building, or you can apply online at lunchapp.112online.orgNew for the 19-20 school year, all students will be purchasing meals and a la carte items using their student ID.  PIN numbers will no longer be active.  If you need help identifying a student ID, you can find it on Infinite Campus Parent Portal, or you can call the Nutrition Services office at 952-556-6150.

Attend one or all of the events!  Parking is available on both sides of CHS; however, the West Parking Lot and Activities entrance is closest to the gym.  Schedule of Events:

6-6:30pm Parent/Student Activities Fair in the Commons – all are welcome

  • Visit with representatives from Athletics Office, Nurses Office, Main Office, School Nutrition, Booster Club, Parent Leadership Council, Parent Education and Student Organizations.

6:30-7:00pm – New Student Orientation in the CHS Gymnasium – Any student who is new to CHS and their families

  • Welcome to CHS. Learn about your school. Celebrate being a Hawk.

7:00-8:00pm – Back to School Kick-Off & Curriculum Night in Entire School – all are welcome

  • All parents and students are invited to our annual Back to School Kick-Off
  • The entire building will be open and teachers will be in classrooms.
  • Students and parents can walk their schedule, find and open lockers, meet teachers and learn about classes while connecting with other students and families.
